We’ve all failed some time, in fact is common in every person’s life. Specially during our college stage failure can become our daily basis struggle, what really matters is how you deal with it to overcome it and keep moving forward to achieve your dreams. Today, we’ll teach how to do it.
As human beings it is impossible to avoid failing, it may even become recurrent during our college career and it turns out it’s the most normal thing in the world. Remember: you’re learning something entirely new and it’s okay to make mistakes.
However, failures tend to discourage us when they happen maybe even to the point of questioning ourselves about making the right decision but do not despair! Not because you fail you have to give up and quit everything. Will you believe me if I told you there’s a way to use your failures in a positive way?
The first thing you can do is learn from your own mistakes. It might sound a bit cliché, but it helps more than you think: start pointing out every flaw in your strategy or anything that might not be working. Maybe it was not the best choice for that course which you just don’t seem to get right. But do not focus only on the negative!
Keep in mind that every experience you have will allow you to learn something new, even about yourself! And it’s important you use it in your favour to keep trying. So, every time you feel frustrated about something not coming out the way you planned find at least 5 things to learn about it. Once you get to see the big picture, you’ll know the next step.
Failing is one thing but stop trying out of fear is another story, which by the way you must avoid at all cost. Fear should never stop you from taking risks or trying new things. Yes, you might fail in your first try and so what? It happens to the best of us!
Take that course you find interesting, practice a new sport or learn a different language. The opportunities are endless! You’re the one building walls and they only exist in your mind. Tear them down and accept your fears. Keep in mind that fear is more necessary tan you think but it doesn’t mean you have to make your decisions thru it.
Admitting our mistakes, especially to other people is a really hard task, however it doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Your friends and family only want what’s best for you and will support you no matter what, so talk to them whenever you need it.
You can also go to any professors or personnel of your university, this might be your best option if what you need is guidance or advice regarding how to learn from your mistakes and start being successful in your projects.
When we fail, we usually start looking for excuses in order to justify it, you might even try to find someone else to blame or even the circumstance itself, anything before accepting your own mistakes. If you want to use your failure to grow it’s time you learn to identify what you did wrong and embrace it.
Do some introspection and analyse what was your mistake, what you could’ve done better, and which strategy could’ve worked better. Once you start taking the blame it’ll be so much easier to learn from your failure and stop giving up until you succeed.
Remember: you’re in learning environment both personal and professional and reading can be the key to understand why you are failing and find out what you should be doing better to avoid it. Do not settle with what they are teaching you in the classroom: do some research, discover new things, learn some more.
Success comes to those who invest their time preparing themselves to keep trying and never give up. Researching about the topics you’re worried or insecure about will give a whole new point of view and can help you understands another people’s failure and how they learnt to overcome it.
The lesson here is to never give up. College education can be hard but not impossible you just need to be patience and fin the motivation you need to learn from your mistakes and keep trying until you make it. Results will definitely be worth it.
